Ceramifying polymer materials have been developed to replace conventional fire protection materials for their excellent qualities. In this paper
ceramifying silicone rubber was prepared by blending silicone rubber and glass frits. The effects of glass frits on the mechanical and electrical properties were investigated. SEM was used to observe the surface and cross-section of ceramic residue after fired. The results showed that the prepared material has desirable ceramifying properties and the compact
hard ceramic residue could resist high temperature over 1000 ℃. As addition of glass frits increased
fluidity of silicone rubber became worse
tensile strength and elongation decreased to some extent
while shore A hardness increased
both volume and surface resistivity firstly increased and then decreased.
