Polyelectrolyte-surfactant complexes are formed by the electrostatic interaction of polyelectrolytes and oppositely charged surfactants as well as the hydrophobic interaction of surfactants in aqueous solution. The complexes may be water-soluble or water-insoluble
depending on the charge density
concentration and stoichiometric of ratio components
etc.The polyelectrolyte-surfactant complexes have a variety of applications. In the paper we review the literature dealing with the aggregating process and structure of the water-soluble polyelectrolytesurfactant complex. The miscellaneous applications of fluorescence spectra to this field are also stressed in the paper.
