Synthesis of Functionalized Poly(ε-caprolactone)s and their Biological Applications
semi-crystalline and biodegradable aliphatic polymer. A good biocompatibility and mechanical properties of PCL has stimulated extensive attention in the drug delivery and tissue engineering. However
the major drawback of the PCL is highly crystalline
low hydrophilic and slow biodegradation which limited its widely application in the biomedical field. The introduction of functional groups into commonly used PCL make it possible to further chemical modification as well as tune its physicochemical properties such as hydrophilicity and degradation rate
which makes PCL more suitable for biomedical applications. This review will focus on the prepared method of PCL with pendent functional groups
and briefly discussed its application in the biomedical areas.
