Exploration of the “Theory-Practice-Intelligence” Integrated Curriculum Reform in Polymer Physics: Using the Synthesis-Structure-Performance of Poly(vinyl butyral) as the Course Framework
The teaching of polymer physics in non-polymer-related disciplines needs to further emphasize engineering practice and applications
focusing on cultivating the ability to solve complex real-world engineering problems through continuous learning. This course reform explored the use of poly(vinyl butyral) (PVB) “synthesis-structure-property” as a framework
integrating theoretical instruction
experimental practice
and AI tools (such as ChatGPT). By restructuring the course content
we have created an “integration of theory
practice
and intelligence” teaching model to cover the core elements of polymer physics. Through PVB product design
we connect the relationship between “synthesis-molecular structure-condensed state structure and product performance”. Additionally
by using AI to visualize formulas and perform data analysis
we made the influence of parameters on properties in theoretical formulas more concrete
thereby stimulating students’ interest and understanding. Feedback indicates that the practical value of the project and the educational utility of AI tools have been widely recognized. In the future
we will further optimize project design
deepen the integration of AI technology
and enhance students’ mastery of key polymer physics concepts to advance interdisciplinary education.
