The blood compatibility of biomaterials is one of the important criteria for the successful clinical application. When materials come into contact with blood
they will cause a series of complex reactions
such as hemolysis
coagulation and immunity
and the mechanism is complex and affected by a variety of factors. Therefore
biocompatibility evaluation of materials should be conducted according to ISO 10993-4 before their clinical application. Blood compatibility evaluation is an important part of it
but there is no unified evaluation standard and index so far. In this paper
the main methods of blood compatibility evaluation in recent years were summarized to provide reference for the establishment of biomaterial blood compatibility evaluation system in the future.
