Carbon nanotubes and carbon fibers both possess excellent mechanical properties
electrical properties and some other good properties. They have been widely used as reinforcements for the composite materials. However
carbon nanotubes/carbon fiber/epoxy resin composites have some limitations at present. Researches only consider the interaction between two-phase materials
in other words
only consider treatment of a single phase while ignoring the modification of the other phase. This paper firstly overviews research progress about carbon nanotubes/ carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composites
and then research progress of carbon nanotubes/carbon fiber/epoxy three-phase composites is described while combining with our own research results. It can be seen that the performance of the carbon nanotube/carbon fiber/epoxy resin three-phase composite will have greatly improved if making a full and effective linkage between three-phase materials
