The fabrication of chemically modified electrode is an active researching field of electrochemistry and electroanalytical chemistry. The modification of electrode with functional polymer film is contributed to the addition of unique functions to electrodes
including selectivity
molecular recognition
pH sensitive
photochemical sensitive and so on
due to the extraordinary structures of the functional polymer films. The unique functions broaden the range of applications of those modified electrodes
and attract more and more attentions. This paper reviews the approaches and the utilized materials of constructing functional polymer films on the electrode in terms of the fabrication of molecular imprinting polymer sensors (MIP sensors) and enzyme sensors
emphasizing on the new applications of electrodeposition in the modification of electrodes. Those approaches could be widely applied to the fabrication of other sensors
possessing an important value of research and applications.
