The macroporous polymeric adsorbents have been widely applied in separation and purification of natural products due to its structure is easy to control
adsorption selectivity is high
and its use is renewable. In this article
the several research progresses for synthesis and application of the polymeric adsorbent was reviewed
mainly divided into two aspects: (1) Structure of the polymeric adsorbent matrix was designed base on the synergistic effect of multiple weak interactions
such as hydrogen bonding interaction
electrostatic interaction
dipolar interaction
and so on. Meanwhile
the hydrophobic skeleton of the adsorbent was also controlled purposely according to the structure characteristic of the adsorbates. This adsorbent can be used to prepare the high purity extract of the special active component in natural product
even to separate the monomer components in one kind of effective principle. (2) Controlling of the pore structure of the adsorbent mainly focus on the pore formed method. In order to get the narrow distribution of the pore diameter of the adsorbent
the traditional non-solvating pore formed method was changed to post crosslink of methylene between the initial structures of the polystyrene adsorbent based on the Friedel-Craft Alkylation reaction. As the result
this kind of adsorbent should exhibit the double function of adsorption and sieving effect.
