Poly(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) terpolymer (ABS) resin has been widely used because of its excellent mechanical property
thermal stability
chemical resistance
aesthetic property
processability
etc. In this paper
the manufacturing techniques and preparation methods of ABS resin at home and abroad were summarized
and it points out that the continuous bulk polymerization method has advantages and will compete and coexist with the emulsion polymerization method for a long time. Moreover
the emphasis was put on the rubber types used as toughening modifiers of ABS resin and their toughening mechanism. Finally
the application status and development prospect of the instrumented impact tester in the performance characterization of polymer
especially in ABS field
were also discussed. The dynamic fracture progress and mechanism of resin materials can be deeply evaluated by combining the microscopy and the instrumented impact method.
