This paper reviews recent developments of the hydrophilic modification of porous polymer membranes by the low temperature plasma method

plasma deposition polymerization by saturated and unsaturated monomers
such as alkyl alcohol
alkyl amine
allyl alcohol
and allyl amine
and plasma induced graft polymerization by the alkene monomer with a polar group
are discussed applying in the membrane surface hydrophilic modification.Their effects on the chemistry structure and morphology structure of both the membrane surface and pore wall
on the degree and permanence of the hydrophilicity
and on the improvement of water flux and the protein antifouling of the modified membrane
