It is difficult to synthesize polymer-coated magnetic nanoparticles for the immiscibility between the polymer coat and the magnetic nanoparticles.In-situ synthesis provides an approach to fabricate polymer-coated magnetic hybrid particles in which inorganic magnetic nanoparticles are incorporated homogeneously.In this paper a variety of in-situ synthetic methods of polymer-coated magnetic nanoparticles reported in recent years are reviewed
