principle and treating methods of low temperature plasma technique and its application in the surface modification of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)fibers were introduced. The recent research on the surface modification of UHMWPE fibers was summarized. In addition
the influencing mechanisms of gas plasmavariety
treating power and treating time on the plasma treating effects were further expound. Moreover
a brief introduction of the continuous plasma treatment has been recommended. After plasma treatment
the interfacial adhesive properties between UHMWPE fiber and resin matrix and the wettability were obviously improved owing to the enhancement of the roughness and crosslinking on the surface of fiber.
