Polymer rare earth complexes possess excellent fluorescence properties and good processability. The study on synthesis and properties of these materials is significantly important for both academic research and practical applications in a variety of fields such as light-emitting display and optics communications. This paper reviews the recent advances in the synthesis of polymer rare earth complexes and structure-property relationships
with the emphasis on the novel synthesis method for the polymer rare earth complexes with high rare earth ion contents and intense fluorescence. In addition
this paper indicates the main problems existing in the current polymer rare earth complexes and future developing trend in this field.
