Dendrimers are a kind of nanomaterials with precise three dimensional structures. Recently
an emerging attention is received from synthesis and characterization of dendrimers towards their functions and applications. Currently
most of traditional fluorescence imaging probes developed are small molecules
but the weak specificity
poor stability
short duration time
and high toxicity greatly limit their applications. Dendrimers with many designable terminal functional groups and large intramolecular cavities are promising for applications in fluorescent biological imaging due to theirs diversity and unique molecular structures. Herein
we mainly introduce the recent progress of dendritic organic fluorescent probes and quantum dots probes for bioimaging.
