Ion sensors are made for detection of ions that are trace in water but are of great influence to healthy or ecological environment. Graphene
with its unique thermal
electrical and mechanical properties
has aroused widespread attention in ion sensing. Graphene with its derivatives and composites can be modified and functionalized to meet various requirements in ion sensors. In this paper
the recent progress of graphene-based ion sensors for detection of ions like Hg
+
Pb
2+
Cu
2+
K
+
etc were reviewed. The future development of graphene-based ion sensors were also prospected.
