rechargeable lithium battery has experienced the rapid development as one kind of energy storage device
and the exploitation of high-performance cathode materials has been one of the hotspots of electrochemical energy field. Compared with conventional inorganic cathode materials
polymer cathode materials are promising candidates for high energy density
flexible
cost-effective
environmentally friendly
and functional rechargeable lithium batteries. This review presents a brief overview of structural features
conductive mechanism
electrochemical properties and major research advancement over the past five years on polymer cathode materials
mainly including conducting polymers
conjugated carbonyl polymers and organosulfur polymers. Herein advantages and challenges of three kinds of polymer electrode materials are summarized. Besides
challenges and modified methods of organosulfur polymers were emphasized. Finally we pointed out that sulfur conjugated conducting polymers with comprehensive features shall be the focuses of future research work.
