SKPc was extracted from Strigaasiatica ( L. ) O. Ktze. SKPc which was deproteinized and decolorized was isolated and purified using DEAE-Sephadex A-25 and Sephadex G-100 and got SKP: . High performance liquid chromatography ( HPLC) indicated that SKP

* was a homogeneity polysaccharide
and the average molecular weight of SKP

* was approximately 14852 u. The water-soluble polysaccharide SKP

* has been analyzed by GC

with a molar ratio of 2. 5:2. 0:0. 85:0. 4:0. 5:1. 0. The most of the sugar residues were existed as β-configuration. And the main chain was made up of β-(1→3)Ara

on average. The side chain was composed of β- (1→4 or 1→5) -Rha and (1→6

1→2) -Glc. The terminal residue was composed of Ara
