an eco-friendly three-layer waterproof composite with self-healing property is prepared by modification of superabsorbent fibers with epoxy resin
blending with rubber
casting
calendering and vulcanization processes. The microstructure
mechanical properties
oxidation resistance
self-healing property and impermeability were investigated by SEM
FT-IR
TY-8000 universal material testing machine and BTS-001 electric impervious instrument. The results show that the superabsorbent fibers added in composite not only increased tensile strength
up to 1.83MPa
but also enhanced elongation at break
over 700%. The waterproof material was completely cut off. After 24 hours of selfhealing
the incision part showed no visible marks; and the crack completely healed. There was no water leakage within 24 hours. After 48h self-healing
the maximum tensile strength was 2.36 times as previous material and elongation at break reached to 80%.
