This review article presents the important recent advances in blends containing thermotropic liquid crystalline polyesters(TLCP)and in composites of TLCP with carbon fiber(CF)and glass fiber(GF)respectively. The intrinsic relationships between thermal behavior and miscibility
rheological behaviour and processability
morphological structure and several properties are revealed. The blends and composites useful in fibers and plastics with high strength and modulus
optical fiber coatings with low thermal expansion coefficient
and packaging films with low gas permeability are also forecast.
