"Intelligent" materials have the abiligy to perform sensing
processing and actuating functions. Hydrogels as intelligent materials have promising potential for application. This paper has reviewed recent progress in research activities on intelligent hydrogels. The discussion focuses on stimulative responsibilities via Flory swelling theory. Chemomechamical phenomenon and gel phase transition are introduced as well.
