Living/Controlled Free Radical Polymerization(LRP)is an effective means of the design and construction of polymer. Recently
it has been one of the research hotspots in the field of polymer chemistry. Selenium-containing polymers have unique multiple response behaviors
such as oxidation
reduction
radiation
light
etc. These polymers are considered as excellent building blocks for the fabricating of biological functional materials. Meanwhile
selenium-containing polymers also exhibit many unique optical and electrical properties. These polymers also have received much attention using as photovoltaic material. This paper reviews the application of organoselenium compounds in the living radical polymerization from the terms of selenide
containing-selenium monomers
diselenocarbonate
etc. It offers a new method for the synthesis and design of functional polymer materials through the combination of selenium-containing polymers and living radical polymerization.
