40% weight of phenol was substituted by oxidatively degradated lignin to formulate foaming phenolic resin at molar ratio of phenol to formaldehyde of 1:1.7. Kinetics of the modified phenolic resin and its curing activity were studied by using isothermal differential scanning calorimeter(DSC) and HAAKE rheometer
respectively. The results showed that temperature had no significant effect on the enthalpy of curing process
and the velocity of curing increased with increasing temperature. The dynamic equation of curing process of the modified phenolic resin was d
