Polymer grafted nanoparticles (PGNPs) are very useful fillers for polymer nanocomposites. The so-called "completely miscible" polymer composites will be obtained by well dispersing the PGNPs with the controlled grafted length and density in the polymer matrix that is same to the grafted chains. This will provide a good model system for the studies on the structure-property relationships of nanocomposites with PGNPs. In this review
we summarize the recent progresses in preparation of PGNPs and the structure-property relationships of nanocomposites with PGNPs. We focus on preparation of PGNPs
dispersion state of PGNPs in polymer matrix
and rheological behaviors and mechanical properties of nanocomposites with PGNPs. We conclude this review with a brief outlook on some future directions.
