As one of the most widely studied conductive polymer
Polyaniline (PANI) has high conductivity and good redox property. But its conjugated delocalization structure make it difficult to dissolve in the organic solvent and the conductivity will become poor under neutral and alkaline environment
which restrict its application. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been frequently applied with excellent electrical
thermal properties
optical properties and unique mechanical properties. The combination of CNTs and PANI will overcome the defects of PANI itself by utilizing the synergistic effect of the two
which effectively improves its capacity and cyclical stability. The preparation processes of polyaniline/carbon nanotube composites using chemical oxidation polymerization
electrochemical polymerization and etc were summarized. Applications of the composites in supercapacitor
electrochemical analysis
batteries
sensors and etc were introduced particularly. The future applications and development in PANI composites were outlooked according to the properties of PANI and CNTs.
