Research Progress in Hydrogels Cross-linked by Polymeric Nanoparticles
As a kind of soft material similar to human tissues
the three-dimensional hydrogels have been widely used in medicine
food
agriculture
forestry
cosmetics and other industries. Among them
hydrogels cross-linked by soft polymeric nanoparticles (MCHs) possess excellent strength and toughness
due to their unique energy dissipation mechanism via chain deformation under load. In this review
the microstructure and the toughening mechanism of traditional hydrogels and MCHs were discussed. The synthetic methods including macromolecular particles cross-linked hydrogels
micelle cross-linked hydrogels and hydrophobic association hydrogels were also described. The applications of MCHs in sensors
tissue engineering and drug release were summarized. Then the research trends and existing problems were prospected.
