The Regime theory is reviewed for melt crystallization of polymer with chain folding. In the theory
three regimes
referred to as Ⅰ
Ⅱ and Ⅲ
are defined according to the relationship of surface nucleation rate and surface spreading rate. Two kinetics methods used for detecting regime transition temperatures are mentioned:one is linear growth rate of lamella
the other is bulk overall crystallization rate.Polymer systems showing Ⅰ/Ⅱ or Ⅱ/Ⅲ transitions are listed and discussed. Some polymers exhibit both the two transitions in the same sample. This review also discusses the obtaining of theoretical parameters and the relationship between regime transition and morphology change.
