Organic-inorganic nanoparticle ionic materials (NIMs) are hybrid materials comprising a nanoparticle core functionized with a covalently tethered ionic corona.NIMs can be tailored over a broad range from glass solids to free flowing liquids by varying geometric and chemical characteristics of the core and corona such as content
size and shape of nanoparticles
molecular weight and grafting density. Liquid-like nanoparticle ionic materials have high-refractive-index
zero-vapor pressure
high heat conductivity.Besides
NIMs are chemically and thermally stable and ionically conductive. They are therefore excellent candidate in immersion photolithography
high-conductivity lubricants
high efficiency coolants
engergy supply
storage
production and so on.Progress in synthesis and applications of liquid-like nanoparticle ionic materials is reviewed in this review. And the problems and promising future are prospected.
