Microwave irradiation is used in the polymerization as a novel and effective way of heating. Microwave irradiation
which is compared with the traditional heating method
has the advantages of short time
low energy consumptions and high product yield. In recent years
applications of microwave irradiation in many chemical fields have been reported. This paper reviews that microwave irradiation has been applied in polymerization including emulsion polymerization
solution polymerization and bulk polymerization. The differences between the microwave irradiation polymerization and the normal heated polymerization have been discussed.
