liquid crystalline (LC) behavior and potential applications of several types of metallomesogenic polymers is provided based on the latest literatures. It is pointed out that four techniques such as direct coordination
monomer coordination
cross-linking coordination and polymer reaction are served for the synthesis of the metallomesogenic polymers. Metallomesongenic polymers are usually thermotropic and exhibit stable nematic or smectic LC phase. Some metallomesogenic polymers show enantiotropic smectic C and smectic A phases
and some are monotropic. Metallomesogenic polymers have special properties like metals. They are magnetically
electronically
optically conducting materials with high performance. These polymers could be potentially served as LC display materials
