Ben-zhe LUO, Jun ZHANG, Xiao-lin WANG. Research Review on Polyolefin Microporous Membrane via Thermally Induced Phase Separation[J]. Polymer Bulletin, 2005,18(3):40-46.
Because it is difficult to find good solvents for non-polar crystallizable polymer at room temperature
the microporous membranes cannot be made by non-solvent induced phase separation .But a recently developed method of thermally induced phase separation has resolved the question .Researches showed that some polyolefins such as polypropylene ( PP)
polyethylene ( PE)
poly ( ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) EVAL
ethylene-acrylic acid coplymer( EAA) and poly( 4-methyl-1-pentene) ( TPX) are materials of making microporous through thermally induced phase separation .This article reviews the research development and focuses on the effects of different kinds of materials ( polymer
diluents
extroctants and additive agents) on microporous membrane' s pore diameter
