Pervaporation is one of the most active research areas in membrane science. It is an important component for chemical separations and has attached great attentions. In this paper
based on three main mixture systems viz.
dehydration of organic solvents
separation of organics form aqueous solution
separation of organicorganic mixtures
the recent development in pervaporation is reviewed
respectively. Separation of organic-organic mixtures by pervaporation is discussed with emphasis on the following aspects: polar/non-polar mixtures
aromatic/ aliphatic mixtures
aromatic/alicyclic mixtures
isomers
multi-mixtures and desulfurization of gasoline. Finally
the advancement of further research and development about pervaporation are prospected.
