This article summarizes recent studies on the physics of single polymer chains by the application of single molecule fluorescence techniques
especially the recent researches from our laboratory. By applying single molecules microscopy and spectroscopy
such as fluorescence correlation spectroscopy
photon count histogram
single molecule fluorescence imaging
and single molecule fluorescence de-focus imaging
we have studied conformational transition and counterion distribution of polyelectrolytes
single chain dynamics of polymers at interfaces
single chain diffusion and segmental motion of polymers under confinements. The results indicate the great potential of single molecule fluorescence techniques in the study of polymer physics.
