The application of conventional chemically crosslinking polyacrylamide (PAM) hydrogels is seriously limited due to their poor mechanical properties. Novel PAM nanocomposite (NC) hydrogels exhibit greatly enhanced mechanical performances as well as the swelling ratios. In this review
two different NC hydrogels series
including via physical crosslinking and chemical crosslinking
were classified. The recent developments of the mechanical properties of these two types of PAM NC hydrogels were reviewed in details. In addition
other properties such as swelling ratios were discussed as well.
