Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanofiber membranes were prepared by electrospinning technique. Influence of conditions (temperature
pressure
time) on the water stability of PVA fiber membrane after hot pressing were studied. With temperature increased
the water stability of PVA fiber membranes was raised. ATR-IR showed improvement of water stability act through different mechanisms during hot press processing at different temperatures (50℃
100℃
155℃ ). Scanning electron microscopy and water stability tests showed that hot pressing treatment at lower temperature had reached the same results as obtained by the pure heat treatment at higher temperature because of synergistic effect of pressure. When the pressure was larger than 4MPa
the water stability of the fiber membrane appeared no obvious promotion. There was a clear difference about the effect of hot pressing time on the stability of PVA fiber membrane in water treated at different temperatures. Combined performances with water stability of PVA
the best conditions of hot pressing processing were 100℃
