According to school characteristics of Hunan Institute of Engineering as an application-oriented institute

we analyzed the talent cultivation modes for the students of polymer materials and engineering

and the problems existed in experiment teaching. To completely change traditional pattern of undergraduate teaching thoughts that experimental teaching is subordinated to theory teaching

we must change the education idea

strengthen talent introduction and cultivation of double-qualified teachers

update experiment teaching contents and ways

adopt some reformation measures such as two-way selection based on market mechanism

and built multiple platforms for full open experiment teaching within the school

for innovation research based on cooperation between the school and enterprises

and for quality control

by means of improving experimental instruments and equipment from the both aspects of software environment and hardware environment. The exploration and pactice in the new mode will help students to master scientific theories by experiments

and use theories for properly guiding the production and scientific research

and is expected to provide reference for experiment teaching reforms in engineering colleges.
