To improve the dispersibility of carbon nanotubes (CNT) in high density polyethylene (HDPE)
carbon nanotube paper (CNP) was prepared by vacuum filtration method and then CNP/HDPE composites were prepared through hot-pressing. The morphology
pore size and mechanical property of the CNP and electrical heating property of CNP/HDPE composites are investigated. Results indicated that the resultant CNP with flat surface and porous structure possess of a certain level of strength and flexibility. The pore size is 20nm~40nm. Three-layered HDPE/CNP/HDPEcomposites show that the tensile strength and modulus are 24.88MPa and 1.953GPa respectively which are higher than those of pure HDPE. The most important point is that the electrical heating properties of CNP/HDPE sandwiched composites is much better than that of CNT/HDPE mixing blend composites with the same content of carbon nanotubes.
