Poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) is one of the most promising members of biodegradable materials because of its good physical property and processability. In this review
progress on synthesis
copolymerization and functionalization of PBS has been summarized. The material's mechanical properties
biodegrability
thermal properties and crystallization behavior can be tuned by random copolymerization and block copolymerization. Sulfonate
carboxylate
amino have been introduced to improve the hydrophilicity and biocompatibility via the high-efficient reaction of the double bonds on poly (butylene fumarate) based random or block polymers. Micelles with pH-triggered reversible surface charges has been prepared. It has great potential to be used as intelligent drug delivery system for cancer therapy.
