Dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSC) have been paid extensive attention because of its low cost
less pollution and easy fabrication. The electrolyte is an important part of DSSC for the regeneration of dye and the hole transportation. In this paper
a brief introduction about the structure and working principle of DSSC were given
and the problems existing in conventional liquid electrolyte were pointed out. The application of novel solid polymer electrolyte
gel polymer electrolyte and microporous polymer electrolyte in DSSC were reviewed. The development of polymer electrolyte in DSSC was discussed at last.
