Polymer binders as one of the key auxiliary components in lithium batteries have gradually developed from providing bonding function to maintaining the mechanical stability of electrodes to environmentally friendly and efficient multifunctional binders. Acrylic polymers exhibit excellent electrochemical properties due to their adequate polar functional groups
insolubility in organic electrolyte and high chemical and mechanical stability. It can be widely used in different structural parts of lithium batteries. In this review
the recent development and application of acrylic polymer binders in lithium batteries silicon anodes
sulfur cathodes
transition metal salt and oxide anodes
polymer electrolyte and separators modification are introduced
in order to provide references for the research of advanced binders for high performance batteries.
