The isothermal crystallization experiment of polypropylene is an important item in the teaching of
Polymer Physics Experiment
. In view of the students' misunderstanding of the experimental results in the course of "observing the growth process of polypropylene spherulites by polarized light microscopy method"
the authors further help students fully understand the differences of crystallization rate in different stages of spherulite growth and the underlying causes by guiding the students to compare the isothermal crystallization process of polypropylene obtained by differential scanning calorimetry with the results of polarized light microscopy experiments. The aim is to enable students to have a more comprehensive and profound understanding of the polymer crystallization process
and to achieve the organic combination of theory and experiment.
