With the rapid development of China’s highway industry in recent years and the demand of some construction industries
the use of asphalt has been increasing. However
asphalt can not be directly used in engineering because of its flowability at high temperature and easy embrittlement at low temperature. The modification of asphalt by adding different substances is a major focus of current research. According to the different modified substances added
this paper introduces the development status of several mainstream modified asphalt
including doped rubber modification
doped SBS modification
nano particle modification and composite modification
discusses various modification mechanisms
summarizes their advantages and disadvantages
and prospects the research direction of low temperature resistant and waterproof modified asphalt in the future.
