The incidence and mortality of cancer kept rising for years. Cancer has become one of the most serious diseases threatening human health in the world. Due to the difficulty of precisely targeting the tumor cells
diagnosis and treatment of cancer is always a problem. Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) is a kind of synthetic receptor with tailored recognizable sites on its molecule. It provides a way to selectively recognize tumor cells. Presently
molecular imprinted polymers are widely used in the preparation of anticancer drug carrier materials. It has become a specific targeting tool for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The application of molecular imprinted polymer in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors (including using anticancer drugs as the templates
and templates based on a protein molecule modeling) was reviewed in this paper. In addition
molecular imprinted polymers also inhibit breast cancer growth by blocking the human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) transducing pathway. The current challenges and future prospects of molecular imprinted polymer application in cancer therapy are also discussed.
