Unnatural biomacromolecule metamaterials are materials with unique chemical structure and functional properties
whose functions can surpass biomacromolecules in nature. It is a new research frontier in the field of polymer science. Such materials can be artificially engineered and modified through (dynamic) chemical modification
genetic engineering
and supramolecular self-assembly
resulting in exceptional optical
electronic
and mechanical properties
as well as excellent flexibility
responsiveness
controllability
and diversity. Therefore
unnatural biomacromolecular metamaterials have broad application prospects in the fields of biology
medicine and materials. Based on the above
this review narrates the design and synthesis methods of unnatural biomacromolecule metamaterials
and summarizes their applications in biosensing
catalysis
medicine
nanomaterials and other fields
emphasizing their importance in solving complex problems in different fields.
