The history and developments in starch - filled plastics were reviewed according to the dependence of properties on structure and morphology. In preparation of starch - filled plastics

cautions should be taken to improve the interfacial compatability between starch and synthetic resin matrix

to lower the size of starch filler and to control its destructured level. The degrad- ability of starch - filled plastics and its assessment were also discussed based on its degradation mechanism

a thermo -oxidative or photo -oxidative degradation of the synthetic matrix accelerated by starch biodegradation.
