Marine mussels secrete special adhesive proteins which have excellent adhesive property even underwater and can attach to almost all types of surfaces
including adhesion-resistant poly (tetrafluoroethylene)(PTFE).This special adhesive behavior has aroused great attention and shines light on preparation of under-water adhesives. Inspired by mussel
scientists and engineers have exploited numerous multi-functional and high-performance bio-mimic materials. In this paper
progress on the design of mussel inspired polymers including the synthesized polypeptides
adhesive groups grafted polymers and polydopamine has been reviewed
and the application of these bio-mimic polymers is also involved.
